Studio Bakers Ready Their Spoons For ‘Budget Bake-Off’!
The cost-of-living crisis doesn’t discriminate. Everyone has been affected by it.
Whether it’s looking at how you can spend less on your weekly shop or assisting a family member with household bills to get them by, it continues to affect everyone.
Local charities aren’t exempt from this. With people having less available funds, financial support for charities has also suffered.

The Beacon of Hope for Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire
As a local charity, Hope House Chesterfield provides a critical lifeline for many individuals who find themselves both at risk and homeless in the Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire area.
Together with Green Pastures, Hope House Chesterfield offers a safe space for individuals to rebuild their lives.
As a local business, we have a responsibility to support our local community and charities in any way we can.
Hope House Chesterfield offers a lifeline to some of the most vulnerable individuals in the area, and without support from the local community and businesses, they would struggle to continue to provide that crucial lifeline to people in need.

The team here all worked together and held a charity ‘budget-bake off’, where members of the charity and residents joined us for the morning.
It was a great opportunity to hear about their upcoming charity events and learn more about the crucial service they provide.
The team raised £170 for the event and donated the bakes for the team and residents at Hope House Chesterfield to enjoy.

Baking More For Less
Keeping things low cost is at the forefront of everyone’s minds, even our studio bakers.
With spoons and whisks at the ready and Lidl conveniently situated as a last resort, our studio bakers were challenged to bake the tastiest bake for the least amount of money.
Studio bakers were encouraged to utilise store-only brands to aid their bake’s affordability and to score some extra brownie points!
Of course, an event of this kind wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t sprinkle a touch of healthy competition into the mix, so our Studio bakers were also competing for two prizes.
1 – The Cheapest Bake
2 – The Tasties / Favourite Bake
What The Team Plated Up!

Paul took the cookie approach in a luxurious direction with his ‘Healthy Breakfast Cookies’.
Nathan hit the quantity marker point with his Pyramid of Heavenly Chocolate Brownies.
Jon added a sprinkle of competition to the brownie-off with his Choc-Chip Explosion Brownies.
Teo & Jeb called upon our trusted and conveniently positioned Lidl bakers for their ‘Lidl-licious Carrot Cake & definitely homemade Profiteroles’.
Sarah plated up a timeless homemade classic Bread & Butter Pudding.
Ana’s coffee-shop recipe didn’t disappoint when she wowed the team with her Carrot Cake Slices.
Monica indulged us with her heritage and baking skills with her Italian Chocolate Log.
Leo sprinkled his ‘sunshine’ personality into his bake with his Zesty Lemon Drizzle Cupcakes.
Jade went head to head in a drizzle-off with her moist Lemon Drizzle cake.
Baking skill, or no baking skill. The team gave it their all and provided a great spread for the event!
Good job, team!
But we know… there can only be two winners… *drumroll, please*

Winner of Cheapest Bake
The winner of Cheapest Bake went to Studio Baker Jon – at an incredible £0.27p per serving!
We can say for certain Jon is a guy who understands a brief!

Winner of Tastiest / Favourite Bake

It wasn’t the cheapest bake but it was tastiest!
